 Mrs. Alice Choate

Alice Choate, daughter of W.J. and Mary Stafford, was born at Ozark, Ark., April 3, 1853.  She moved to Danville when quite small.  Was dedicated to God by baptism in infancy, and joined the Methodist Church in 1868.  She lived a conserated Christian until her death on Sunday, September 25, 1927.

Mrs. Choate was married at the age of 16 and was the mother of ten children, six of whom are living.  She became paralyzed in her right side in September, four years ago, and bore her afflictions with patience and was always cheerful and smiling, ever grateful and appreciative for the kindness and favors bestowed on her by numerous friends.  Everyone loved her, for she was always on the right side of every question.

She was a model mother, ever good, pure and true, and O! it is such a comfort to know her sweet soul is safely anchored in the haven of eternal rest.

She seemed to be waiting for the Angels to come and waft her spirit home to that eternal land of bliss where sad partings come no more. O! how we loved her, and how desolate, sad and lonely home is without our precious, sweet Mother.

When the image of our dear one has been obliterated by the lapse of time from all other hearts, it will still linger like the fragrance of crushed flowers around our own, and though years may pass. We will still love breathe forth the tenderest sympathies of the soul in memory of our darling Mother.  Our love for her is now a golden chain to draw us Heavenward.

Her grief-stricken daughter, Edith
